TDD Top 10 Places To Watch the Super Bowl 2015

TDD Top 10 Places To Watch the Super Bowl 2015
For a fair-weather football fan like me, the Super Bowl is just another excuse to eat way more chicken wings than any human should eat and to watch ridiculously produced and expensive beer commercials. To be honest, IDGAF about the halftime show this year because Beyoncé isn’t performing. However, I still want to party and so do you. So here are the Daily Do Chicago – Top 10 Places To Watch the 2015 Super Bowl, in no particular order.

1SINKANE PLAYS SCHUBA’SSinkane (by Martine Carlson)
Schuba’s, 10pm, $25 (advance) $30 (Doors)
If you’re seeking a little bit more low key of a night to cap off your year, we highly recommend that you check out Sinkane at Schuba’s. Sinkane blends a mix of krautrock, funk, and free jazz that makes you feel like you’ve just landed on a sandy beach. Tickets are well priced, the mac n’cheese at the Harmony Grill next door is undeniably scrumptious and the Schuba’s crowd is always fun-loving and low key. It’s a casual affair but I’m sure that if you really feel like wearing that super sparkly gown or tux, just go for it. It’s New Year’s Eve! Go big or go home.

The Dinner Party at City Winery

jan-20-fear-no-art-dinner-partyMONDAY: FEAR NO ART PRESENTS: THE DINNER PARTY

7pm  .  City Winery  .  $40  .  Buy tickets here

Fear No Art is paving the way for a new kind of talk show in Chicago. Less annoying than The View and more intimate, localized, and interactive than most, The Dinner Party invites three celebrities, an acclaimed chef, and a gaggle of guests (you) over for food, wine, dessert, and unscripted conversation. Aside from host Elysabeth Alfano, the group changes for each live taping and tends to get a little rowdy with spontaneous performances, prize giveaways, and plenty of wine to go around. Of course the audience parties down as well, feasting on tastings the spotlight chef prepares, plus wine, tea, and chocolate. With live music and live wires the electricity of this live event is tangible. Tonight’s guests are film critic Richard Roeper, lead singer of Tributosaurus Chris Neville, female rapper DESSA, and Chef Joho of Everest. Consider this your party invitation.

Every second Saturday of the month the legendary Double Door hosts Soul Summit – a giant, free, dance party with beautiful people who love soul music and getting down with their bad selves. Tonight is the 4-year anniversary party and it’s a big celebration. Guest DJs E Da Boss and DJ Akalepse will be spinning, beer will be flowing, the grown and sexy crowd will be dancing… Resident DJs Sloppy White, Dave Mata, and Duke Grip will also be taking over the decks. When you need a break from all the boogying, peruse the dope posters and t-shirts near the DJ booth. Hey, get a matching outfit for your new dance partner while you’re at it! It’s Saturday night. New Year’s Eve!

dec-31-best-new-years-eve-chicagoTUESDAY: NEW YEAR’S EVE!

If you couldn’t find a house party or didn’t want to throw your own, you’ll have to make the chilly trek to a bar or hotel, pay a bundle for a drink package, rub up against sweaty bodies until you find one suitable enough to kiss when the clock strikes midnight, then freeze as you walk the streets looking for an empty cab home (there aren’t any). That sounds like one crappy night, but it can be the best night of the year if you choose wisely (party and partner). I can’t help you with the latter, but here are 10 events tonight that should make 2013 worth your while.

Eve of the Eve Benefit Party

dec-30-eve-of-eve-union-stationMONDAY: 20TH ANNUAL EVE OF THE EVE BENEFIT PARTY

8pm  .  Union Station  .  $125-$140  .  Buy tickets here

This party has been happening for 20 years now so I’m betting it’s a pretty good time. Benefitting HighSight’s scholarship program, over 2,000 urbanites will mix and mingle as they enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live music, and dancing in Union Station’s Great Hall at the 20th Annual Eve of the Eve Party. The black tie attire is optional (clothing is not) but it’s more fun if you dress to the nines and get your swank on. Have a ball and practice your NYE partying the night before so you can fine-tune it for the 31st.

How do you cure that holiday hangover? Whiskey. How do you relieve the guilt of non-stop sugar binging? Bury those feelings deep down in your gut, under piles of cake. At least that’s how they do it at the Cake & Whiskey Club’s Whiskey, Frankincake & Myrrh Holiday Party. Don (ner) your favorite Dasher or Vixen attire and nestle in at the Den Theater for a Christmas nightcap created with the theme whiskey of the night, Fireball, and soak up the booze with chai spice buttercream chocolate cake.
