TDD Top 10 Places To Watch the Super Bowl 2015

TDD Top 10 Places To Watch the Super Bowl 2015
For a fair-weather football fan like me, the Super Bowl is just another excuse to eat way more chicken wings than any human should eat and to watch ridiculously produced and expensive beer commercials. To be honest, IDGAF about the halftime show this year because Beyoncé isn’t performing. However, I still want to party and so do you. So here are the Daily Do Chicago – Top 10 Places To Watch the 2015 Super Bowl, in no particular order.

1st Annual Donut Fest

jan-26-chicago-donut-festSUNDAY: 1ST ANNUAL DONUT FEST

9am  .  Chop Shop & 1st Ward  .  $30-$45  .  Buy tickets here

The first ever Chicago Donut Fest is already sold out. I’m just writing this post to make you all jealous…suckaaaas. And to urge you to mark your calendars for next year because this feeding frenzy is for a good cause; Chicago’s own un86d.org. Yes, we will have to get up early on a Sunday to clog our arteries with fried, gooey goodness but don’t worry, the coffee will be flowin and the donuts will be dunkin. No, actually the donuts will not be Dunkin, phew. 15 bakeries will be in the mix today handing over their most tasty treasures. We all knew donuts were popular but dang, who knew there were even 15 donut shops in the city, let alone all able to assemble under one roof today? Either way, this morning you’ll be acquainted (Nice to meet you.), uncovered (You come here often, don’t you?), or reunited (It’s the dancing donut dream again!) Wake up. Time to eat the donuts.

Culinary Fight Club

jan-23-culinary-fight-clubTHURSDAY: CULINARY FIGHT CLUB: TASTEBUD CHALLENGE

6:30pm  .  The Arrow on Ogden  .  $15  .  Buy tickets here

Fighting is no good…unless it involves food; then it’s the best! This evening brings the 3rd installment of the foodie frenzy known as Culinary Fight Club. Every month a new TasteBud Challenge arrives and when they say new, they mean it. Each time the theme, contestants, judges, and venue change which keeps the excitement as fresh as the dishes being whipped up. During the event, 3 contestants go head-to-head using 15 ingredients and minimal equipment to wow the judges and guests in only 60 minutes. Contestants don’t even have to be professional chefs. They can be culinary students, kitchen prodigies, or your mom, just as long as she’s saucy, fierce, and ready to cut through the competition. Is there a reason for all this delicious debauchery, you ask? Culinary Fight Club was created to support the soon-to-be-launched hunger fighting non-profit Fight2Feed.org. It’s a battle to the end (of hunger) for you tonight and for your fellow Chicagoans who face this very real challenge on a daily basis. Tonight’s TasteBud Challenge theme is SOUP, a warm blanket for your innards and everyone’s favorite winter delight. Obviously, if you don’t attend there will be no soup for you.

The Dinner Party at City Winery

jan-20-fear-no-art-dinner-partyMONDAY: FEAR NO ART PRESENTS: THE DINNER PARTY

7pm  .  City Winery  .  $40  .  Buy tickets here

Fear No Art is paving the way for a new kind of talk show in Chicago. Less annoying than The View and more intimate, localized, and interactive than most, The Dinner Party invites three celebrities, an acclaimed chef, and a gaggle of guests (you) over for food, wine, dessert, and unscripted conversation. Aside from host Elysabeth Alfano, the group changes for each live taping and tends to get a little rowdy with spontaneous performances, prize giveaways, and plenty of wine to go around. Of course the audience parties down as well, feasting on tastings the spotlight chef prepares, plus wine, tea, and chocolate. With live music and live wires the electricity of this live event is tangible. Tonight’s guests are film critic Richard Roeper, lead singer of Tributosaurus Chris Neville, female rapper DESSA, and Chef Joho of Everest. Consider this your party invitation.

Painting, Wine, and Pizza Party

jan-16-art-and-appetite-painting-partyTHURSDAY: ART & APPETITE: PAINTING AND WINE PARTY PRESENTED BY BOTTLE & BOTTEGA AND THE ART INSTITUTE

6-8:30pm  .  Scoozi  .  $40  .  Buy tickets here

Tonight is all about PDA. No, I’m not talking kissing booths, but it is guaranteed to be a good time. I’m talking Pizza, Drinking, and Art. Bottle & Bottega and the Art Institute come together for a hands-on event that’ll satisfy your cravings. Art & Appetite: American Painting, Culture, and Cuisine is the current exhibition at the Art Institute and the theme of tonight’s painting party. Scoozi, a saucy Italian hot spot in River North, will dazzle the palates of partygoers with an array of apps, pizza, and wine to indulge in while mingling. Once the creative juices are flowing, instructors will help lay it all on canvas with step-by-step instruction on how to create your own version of Wrapped Oranges by William J. McCloskey (1889), a featured work from the exhibition. By the end of the night your appetite for production will have resulted in a full belly, a free mind, and your very own take-home masterpiece. Might I suggest you hang it in your kitchen?

Artists-N-Ales

jan-11-artists-n-alesSATURDAY: ARTISTS-N-ALES: A BEER INSPIRED ART EVENT

3-7pm  .  Co-Prosperity Sphere  .  $25  .  Buy tickets here

Does beer make art better or is it the other way around? Artists-N-Ales might bring you one step closer to solving that mystery. This afternoon the Sphere will showcase not only beer and art but beer inspired art and art inspired beer. Sip on brews paired with tasty bites while perusing spirited work from artists and designers influenced by the aesthetics of craft beer and its impact on food, culture, and society. Before the evening is up, I’m sure we will all arrive at the same conclusion. Beer and art, good on their own but better together.

Rock n Roll Birthday Bash

jan-8-elvis-bowie-birthdayWEDNESDAY: ROCK N ROLL BIRTHDAY BASH: ELVIS AND BOWIE WINE PAIRING

8pm  .  City Winery  .  $10-$25  .  Buy tickets here

Is it any coincidence that The King and The Duke were born on the very same day? I think not. Celebrate today’s vibration of high musical frequency and pay homage to two rock greats, Elvis Presley and David Bowie, at City Winery’s Rock n Roll Birthday Bash. Get a little tipsy on wines paired with the songs of these musical masters, then zig like Ziggy and maybe even wiggle that pelvis like Elvis. There’s no better day than today to unleash your inner rock god, and the wine will be your guide.
